Menotti Assignment Redux:
1. Keep your original Menotti orchestration that includes:
Woodwinds: piccolo, 2 flutes, alto flute, 2 clarinets in Bb, bass clarinet in Bb, 2 oboes, english horn, 2 bassoons and contrabassoon
Brass: 4 horns, 2 trumpets in C, flugelhorn, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba
Auxiliary: harp, celesta and grand piano
Strings: violin I, violin II, viola, violoncello and double bass
2. Add the following percussion in a MEANINGFUL way:
a. Timpani
b. Percussion – 3 players on 9-12 instruments of 2 or 3 each in the categories of mallets, metals, woods and skins including:

3. Update your notation file making sure that ALL of your instruments are in proper score order!
a. Then, either add the new instruments to your current Menotti Ableton Live set.
b. OR, export new MIDI data from your updated notation file and start a new Ableton Live 9 set.
c. Then, “re-assign” all of the instruments to the Vienna Symphonic Library instruments.
d. Finally, use MIR Pro to spatialize your Menotti orchestra.
