Students must choose from either of the options listed below and orchestrate/score as instructed for string, woodwind, and brass orchestra with percussion:
1. Score mm. 1-29 of Milhaud’s “Trois Rag Caprices, Op. 78, #1″ as instructed.
2. Score mm. 1-28 of Bartok’s “Wrestling” as instructed.
3. Extend Menotti’s Il Ruscello as instructed.
4. Conversely, students may propose an alternate piece for Dr. A.’s consideration, which must still involve orchestrating/scoring as instructed for string, woodwind and brass orchestra with percussion. Proposed alternate pieces may be in any style or genre (original concert music, film music, or music theater, to name just a few), but must fulfill the orchestration requirements.
The Midterm-Scoring-Project must be submitted in the following 3 formats: 1), as a Sibelius notation file; 2), as an audio file exported from Sibelius; and 3), as a .pdf score file.
